Types Of Therapy I Offer

The two forms of therapy I specialise in are:

ACT – Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

CBT – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

I follow NICE Guidelines (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) which provide clear evidence based directions on the most effective therapies.

Overall therapy aims

Promoting wellbeing and quality of life.

Supporting adjustment to life experiences, unpleasant symptoms and any new diagnosis.

Agreeing therapy goals together and having a shared understanding of the difficulties you experience.

Identifying barriers to changes you want to make and teaching skills to overcome these barriers.

Therapy approach

A therapy contract with details of what you can expect will be shared and signed by us both before therapy starts.

Our first appointment will be an assessment to identify all the factors impacting on your experience and your ability to manage. Your mood, activity levels, the areas of life that are really important to you and the changes that you want to make will also be explored.

Sometimes the most helpful first step is for me to provide information on the symptoms you are experiencing and to give you some effective and practical guides on how to manage these.

All decisions will be made in collaboration with you. I will recommend and provide therapy that is most likely to be effective for you.
